The Note Trac productivity tool built by Reform IT Solutions, LLC has recently gone live. If you ”Go Premium” for the reasonable price of $8/month you will be given access to a number of extremely beneficial features that will help you better track the various details of your lives.

One of the key benefits of using Note Trac in place of other tools available such as Google Keep or the iPhone Notes app is that your data is protected through 512 bit AES encryption at rest. As things progress in the direction that society is going, it is becoming more and more important to take back your privacy and the TracSuite of tools developed by Reform IT Solutions is committed to upholding the users privacy as it’s chief goal.

So what can you do with Note Trac? Well that is the purpose of this post which will be the first in a series of posts is designed to answer exactly that so that you can begin to use Note Trac to trac your life without wondering who might be tracking you.

Creating Notes

With a Premium Note Trac account you are given the ability to create two types of notes, a text based note and a checklist note as the following screenshot demonstrates:

Add Note Menu Screenshot

Type Description
Text Note Capture a block of text and apply basic formatting to that text such as quotes, bible verses, a detail that you don’t want to forget, etc…
Checklist Note Manage a list of todo’s for a particular tag through the use of the add, drag n drop, edit, complete and delete features for individual tasks

Text Notes

If you click the “Text” menu item you will be presented with a form to add a new text note to the Note Trac Dashboard as show in the following screenshot:

If you have upgraded to a Premium subscription then you will see 3 icons at the top of the form, which are further described in the following table. NOTE: These are only available with a premium subscription, the basic free subscription does offer these features.

Type Description
Push Pin Pin notes you want to have more visibility to the top of the Dashboard.
Painting Pallet Select a different background color for the note.
Tags Create, edit and delete tags that you want to be applied to your note

Text Note Example

For example, here is a quote from Jonathan Edwards 👇 that I really like and I’d like to keep track of it in Note Trac. This is easily done with some amazing features that you can use to format and categorize your notes with tags that we’ll briefly show here and explain in more detail in a later post.

“God is the highest good of the reasonable creature. The enjoyment of him is our proper; and is the only happiness with which our souls can be satisfied. To go to heaven, fully to enjoy God, is infinitely better than the most pleasant accommodations here. Better than fathers and mothers, husbands, wives, or children, or the company of any, or all earthly friends. These are but shadows; but the enjoyment of God is the substance. These are but scattered beams; but God is the sun. These are but streams; but God is the fountain. These are but drops, but God is the ocean.” - Jonathan Edwards

1. Enter the text

Just copy and past the text that you want to store in the “New Text Note” form as shown in the following screenshot. NOTE: You can apply some basic formatting in your note if you’re using the app on a desktop/laptop computer. For example the attribution for this quote is displayed in bold in the form and will display in bold in the note when it is saved to the desktop.

2. Form Icons

As mentioned earlier, if you have a premium account you will notice 3 icons at the top of the New Text Note form. Here we will discuss these a little further. Also, watch this space for future posts on these to gain a deeper knowledge of how they can be used.

Pinned Notes

If this is a note that you want to display at the very top of the dashboard then, as mentioned earlier you can click the pin icon and it will end up displaying at the top of the dashboard.

Note Background Color

There is a default background color that is applied to ever note. If you have a premium subscription this default value can be changed in the settings. If you have a premium subscription you can also select a color that will only be applied to the note that you are creating. This is accomplished by clicking the Painting Pallet icon and selecting the color of your choice from the menu that appears as show in the following screenshot:

Note Tags

Finally, you can add multiple tags to the note which can be used later on to filter the notes displayed on the dashboard to make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for. In this case, I’m going to tag this note with the author “Jonathan Edwards” and the book the quote is found in “Sermons & Discourses”

You can create new tags as well as edit and delete existing tags. This feature is a subtle but powerful feature of the app that can be leveraged to apply a high level of classification of your notes. The following screenshot shows the form with the two tags I mentioned previously listed in the “New Text Note” form.

3. Save the note

Once you are happy with the note then you can save it and it will display on the dashboard as showing in the following screenshot.

Conclusion

This is first in a two part post on how to create a note with Note Trac. In the next post we’ll take a look at creating a Checklist note, a feature only available to premium subscribers but one that offers the ability to keep track of the everyday todo lists that you might have in a simple and straightforward manner. And don’t forget, all of this is being done under the banner of protecting the privacy of you our users.
